Army promotes four Major Generals to Lt General rank

Pakistan Army has announced promotions in its top brass. Four Major Generals of Pakistan Army have been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday said in an announcement on a social media website.

D.G. ISPR Asim Saleem Bajwa, who has also been among the promoted Army officers, in a tweet said that Maj. Gen. Sadiq Ali, Maj. Gen. Umar Durrani, Maj. Gen. Aamir Riaz and Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa have been promoted to the rank of Lt. General.  The Army’s high-level promotion board headed by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday approved promotions of the four military officers.

Lt. General Asim Bajwa will continue his post as DG ISPR, while Lt. General Amir Riaz has been posted as Commander Southern Command and Lt. Gen. Umar Farooq Durrani posted as Corps Commander Mangla.

Lt. General Ikramul Haq, Lt. General Hilal Hussain and Lt. General Malik Zafar Iqbal were posted as Corps Commander Gujranwala, Commander Army Strategic Force Command and Corps Commander Rawalpindi respectively by the board. The Ministry of Defence and General Headquarters have issued notifications for these appointments.
