SC cancels leave of investigation officers in NICL case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has cancelled leave of investigation officers of NICL case and has directed them to appear before it today along with record.The SC took up NICL investigation officer Zafar Qureshi restoration case for hearing Tuesday.Zafar Qureshi stated before the court that court’s orders were being defied and investigation officers had not returned the files.Upon it Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed Director FIA to appear before the court today besides cancelling the leave of investigation officers.

Zafar Qureshi told the court that when he reached FIA Lahore office on August, 13 then bomb hoax was spread and assistant commissioner Hammad Shah informed him about it by telephone at 2400 hrs night while information about bomb disposal squad was given to him on next day. This was conspiracy to prevent him from going to office, he said.DG FIA told he was on leave on August, 13 and staff had informed him on telephone.

Zafar Qureshi told the court files of the case were not being provided to him and staff had been sent on leave.The court when inquired from DG FIA in this respect, he told that it was not in his knowledge. However Director Javed Ali Shah had proceeded to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and he was on leave, he told.The SC declared interior secretary, DG FIA and director FIA guilty of defiance of court’s orders and directed DG FIA to register case against the person who spread bomb hoax. – Onlinenews
