Additional sessions judge Muhammad Akmal Khan, while hearing the murder case of Supreme Court additional registrar, Hamad Raza, sentenced to death five accused and acquitted one person because of weak evidence against him. While announcing the decision on Tuesday, the court sentenced the five, Sharifuddin, Bashiruddin, Mumtaz Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed and Mir Afzal, to death and acquitted Basharat because of weak evidence.
Raza was shot dead on 15th May, 2007, during a robbery at his house in the G-10 sector of the federal capital. He was a gold medallist from the Quaid-e-Azam University, and was among the top 10 in the 1996 CSS examinations. – Daily Times
