Varlaam Monastery: The second largest of the six magnificent monasteries of Greece is the Varlaam monastery and its importance in the Greek history is very prominent as it is the home of the saints. The dedication of this monastery amongst the six magnificent monasteries of Greece to the saints surely depicts its importance in terms of religion and spirituality.

The Holy Monastery of St. Stephen: This monastery is not built on a high mountain or a rocky cliff like the others of the six magnificent monasteries of Greece instead it was built on a plain. However, it is still very high. The Greek history states that the monastery was destroyed by the Nazis but after some time the nuns took over and did the reconstruction of this monastery.

Agia Triada Monastery: The Agia Triada monastery or the Holy Trinity Meteora monastery is also very famous amongst the six magnificent monasteries of Greece as it is built on an isolated looking high cliff. The monastery has been renovated and reconstructed several times however; it still holds great importance in the Greek religious history. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful and unique of the six magnificent monasteries of Greece.

Gregorio Monastery: Towards the south west of Mount Atos lies the magical and extremely beautiful Gregorio Monastery. Originally dedicated and built for St. Nicholas was home to many monks but eventually, it gained a lot of fame due to the presence of relics from the ancient Greek era.

The Nunnery Roussanou Monastery:  This picturesque Roussanou Monastery is of the the most beautiful looking six magnificent monasteries of Greece. It was built in 16th century and is still a place of great religious importance. – Faaria Khan
