Ticket holders to Centre Court on Friday will be treated to something rather special, with both Laura Robson and Andy Murray definitely going to appear in Wimbledon’s premier stadium.

Robson was scheduled to play her second round match against Colombian qualifier Mariana Duque Marino last on court two on Thursday, but rain put pay to any chance she had of playing.

As for Murray, he takes on the No 32 seed Tommy Robredo in the third round, with British fans hoping for a very rare day when they can see two Brits win on the same court at a Grand Slam.It was speculated that British No 1 Robson’s match would have been moved to the dry of Centre Court after Novak Djokovic finished his second round game against Bobby Reynolds, but tournament officials said the Serb would end the day’s play.

It was not only Robson who was affected, with Grigor Dimitrov and Grega Zemlja at a key stage of their match when the rain forced players off.Dimitrov was about to serve to stay in the match at 9-8 down in a deciding set when the call to vacate the court came. The inclement conditions – the first to hit Wimbledon this year – had been forecast but that did not make the arrival of rain any less disappointing for those in the crowd.

The weather on Friday is going to be quite similar to Thursday at SW19, with cloud and a little rain affecting the day.It should ease off by around midday and hopefully then stay dry through much of the afternoon, but some small showers may still occur later in the day. There is further British interest as the doubles gets going, with Dominic Inglot and partner Treat Huey of the Philippines play last on Court 2.Robson and Heather Watson are scheduled to play, but neither have been assigned a court, and with rain likely to come again, one may end up under the roof of Centre. – DailyMail
