Mauritian pugilists to arrive in Pakistan on Friday

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP): Pugilists from Mauritius will arrive Capital on Friday to undergo one-month long training session at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad for the preparation of upcoming Common Wealth Games to be held in New Delhi. Pakistan is hosting around 100 boxers from seven countries for a joint boxing camp that got underway at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Wednesday.

Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) General Secretary Mohammad Akram Khan told APP that PBF had extended an invitation to several countries to attend the camp and seven of them – Central Africa, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya expressed willingness to participate in the camp.
“A six-member team, including five boxers and one official, from Sri Lanka have arrived on Tuesday. While Mauritian pugilists will arrive on Friday and the rest will start arriving from the beginning of next month,” he said.
Akram said this would be a good opportunity for Pakistani boxers to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games as the joint training camp would help them put up a good show.
A total of 22 Pakistani boxers have been named to train at the camp but only 17 will be present for the first four days.  Five Pakistani boxers are currently competing at the Combat Games in China and will join the camp upon their return – APP
