Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Plan C, aimed at forcing an inquiry into alleged rigging in the May 2013 general election, partially paralyzed Karachi on Friday.
The Sindh government had said it would not allow a strike, stating earlier that government machinery would swing into action if anyone attempts to shut the city down by force.
PTI’s earlier shutdown in Faisalabad saw one PTI activist killed during violent clashes with Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supporters and police.
Despite fear of possible disturbance, the protest demonstration concluded largely peacefully with no major incidents reported in the port city. – Dawn
