ISLAMABAD: US Senior Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, David Pearce held meetings with Pakistani officials in Islamabad on Friday to continue discussions on improving ties between the two countries.

The discussions included how the United States (US) and Pakistan can work together to identify their shared interests and act jointly on them, said a press release.Pearce’s visit builds on other recent US-Pakistan bilateral engagements, including meetings between US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Washington and Brussels.

Expressing his delight over visiting Pakistan, Pearce said that the significant high-level US-Pakistan bilateral engagements have helped in making real progress on issues critical to the interests of both the nations.“I am meeting with officials in Islamabad today to continue this process. I expect that the United States and Pakistan will continue these engagements in the weeks and months ahead,” he said. – Tribune
