At least 63 dead in Karachi factory blaze: fire officer

KARACHI: At least 63 people were killed when a blaze engulfed a garment factory in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi, an official said on Wednesday.
“We have recovered 63 bodies, including three found when we reached the basement of the building. I fear more bodies could be there,” Karachi fire chief Ehtesham Salim told AFP.The death toll was revised sharply upwards after police earlier said the fire, which erupted late Tuesday, had killed nine workers and injured 20 others.
According to Media , Interior Minister Rehman Malik directed IG Sindh to investigate the incident and include the name of factory’s owner in the Exit Control List (ECL). – Dawn
