Fahim rules out military solution to restore Karachi peace

Makhdoom Amin FahimLAHORE, July 24: Federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Sunday ruled out military solution to Karachi’s problems and urged all the political parties to sit together and discuss ways and means to restore peace in the business hub of the country.
Talking to newsmen at Allama Iqbal International Airport here, he said the return of the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was a positive step, which would help strengthen the democratic system.
To a question, he urged the media to note the tone of other political leaders, besides focusing their cameras and mikes on Zulfikar Mirza, ex-Home Minister of Sindh.
To another query, he said release of sugar quota to Punjab would not be decided by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) but by the Federal Cabinet.
About availability of sugar in market during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, the minister said it was Economic Coordination Committee’s (ECC) job to ensure the availability of commodity in the markets during the holy month of Ramazan. – APP
