Motorway police gears up for foggy weather

LAHORE: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have started preparations to deal with foggy weather, and to prevent accidents.The NH&MP held a meeting in this regard at its office at Thokar Niaz Baig on Sunday with IG Dr Wasim Kauser in the chair. DIG Syed Ibne Hussain briefed the IG about the special arrangements being adopted by the NH&MP.Dr Kauser said the NH&MP vehicles should ply on the hard shoulder with all lights switched on and hooters should be used frequently. He asked NH&MP staff to wear reflecting jackets while on patrol duty. He said no vehicle should be intercepted on a highway on foggy days unless absolutely necessary. Officers should request commuters to drive at a moderate speed keeping a safe distance and abstain from smoking or playing music while driving.Six cones instead of three should be placed at the site of a breakdown and they should be placed at a safe distance – Dailytimes
