PPP asks Nawaz to account for Rs 300m

LAHORE : PPP Punjab Secretary Information Dr Fakhruddin Ch on Monday asked PML-N leadership to account for Rs 300 million allegedly spent out of the public exchequer on development work carried out at Raiwind Estate of Sharif brothers.Giving break up of the said amount at a news conference held at a local hotel here, the PPP leader alleged out of Rs 300 million, Rs 70 million had been incurred on setting up of a PTCL exchange with 200 telephone lines, while irrigation department spent Rs 80 million on construction of new water courses leading to Sharif’s Raiwind farm. The Punjab govt, he added, paid out another Rs 70 million for provision of Sui gas, and Public Works department expended Rs 80 million on construction of roads leading to Sharif’s Raiwind Palace.

He said though the PPP government had not registered any corruption case against PML-N leaders due to its policy of reconciliation, but nation had the right to ask them to account for tax payers’ money spent on development of Raiwind Estate.Dr Fakhar said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was on record having said that his government had registered fake cases against Asif Ali Zardari under pressure from certain forces.He said a video has also come to surface exposing the conspiracy hatched against Zardari to confine him in jail for a longer period.He demanded of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Ch to quash the cases against President Zardari by taking suo moto notice of the latest revelations. The PPP leader also asked Mian Nawaz Sharif to seek forgiveness from nation for instituting bogus cases against Asif Zardari and keeping him in jail for 11 years.He said Punjab government was running on a stay order since long, and now was time to conclude the case on priority basis.
