Federal Finance Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar has asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to ensure 24-hour operation of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) service by the banks for facilitating general public during Eid holidays.
During a meeting with the Deputy Governor SBP, Saeed Ahmad, Dar said that enough cash must be made available in the ATMs to facilitate public in order to help them celebrate the festival of Eid with religious zeal and passion.
The aim of the proposal is to save people from any inconvenience, said the minister in a statement issued by the finance ministry. Dar also shared his concerns with the Deputy Governor SBP while taking notice of several media reports regarding long bank holidays during Eid.
He insisted that people must be provided full facilities to draw money from banks. The minister also stressed to ensure the presence of staff at the counters concerned to execute the operations smoothly. Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to commence on July 6 in Pakistan according to the country’s meteorological department.
